Healthcare, IT, and green energy programs added to Job Corps.
The Department of Labor (DOL) announced that pre-apprenticeship programs have been expanded throughout the nation. The Job Corps has 121 training centers in all 50 states, and key fields have been added to the roster of more than 300 pre-apprenticeship programs. Healthcare, information technology, and green energy are job fields that are growing rapidly, and the Job Corps has added specific pre-apprenticeship programs to increase entry points to these career pathways.
“Through this initiative, Job Corps students will spend approximately one year in a pre-apprenticeship program,” explained Job Corps National Director Rachel Torres. “Pre-apprenticeship programs prepare students with a set of skills and strategies needed to enter and succeed in a Registered Apprenticeship program or industry-relevant job.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For National Director Torres as she oversees the pre-apprenticeship program.
- For Job Corps officials as they seek to support the administration’s apprenticeship and labor goals.
- For Secretary Marty Walsh to be guided by God in his leadership of the Labor Department.
